Juniors at Blackburn

Junior cricket at Blackburn Cricket Club is a very popular program with teams playing last season on Wednesday and Friday Nights and Sunday mornings. The program caters for all ages and abilities, and we welcome new members to an ever growing club. In line with our Junior Player Philosophy, the aim of our Junior Program is for every player to not only participate, but to also improve.

Woolworths Cricket Blast (Wednesday evenings, Morton Park)

Backed by Cricket Australia and Cricket Victoria, Cricket Blast teaches the fundamentals: batting, bowling, throwing, catching and fielding, in a fun and engaging way. Experienced coaches focus on skill development and build towards modified cricket games to build the pathway to Junior Cricket teams. Our future cricket stars train next-door to our Super 7s, Fast 9s and Girls Stage 1 matches, easing the step up to team cricket.

Super 7s (Level 1) and Fast 9s (Level 2)

The next step along the player development trajectory, the non competitive Level 1 Super 7's and Level 2 Fast 9's gets kids used to playing on a full sized oval, with everyone rotating through the batting and bowling equally. Pitch length in shortened and balls a lighter and safer for youngsters to play with, allowing for a full focus on development and fun.

Under 12s to Under 18s

Graded, competitive cricket with a strong record of on-field success. We support the transition in competitive, graded cricket by demonstrating inclusive values and celebrating improvement, especially in the younger grades. The players are generally graded according to their ability, but we try as much as possible to keep friendship groups together, and build supportive team relationships in a competitive environment.

Girls program

Our Girls program includes Stage 1 and Stage 2 teams, with a strong focus on fun and development in cricket. We continue to build pathways into Women’s Cricket and long term development of cricket for everyone.
